Since You Came Home

Since you came home
from the night shift and stood
in your gray J.D. counselor uniform

and hugged me, I
sucked gently on the brown
nickel of flesh I found my lips on

You reached your fingers
to black sweat pants and rubbed
through sleepy material until

I moaned
on your neck and you
curled breathing deeper around me

We broke apart
then and I washed yesterday's
dishes while you watched

PBS KIDS with
a flannel skinned elf
perched on your knee

And honey, each day
this love
